Everest Base Camp 2010 • 11/7/2010 5:45:02 AM Randy Bernard - Acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar
Hello, children at BC Children's Hospital. I'd like to say hi to all the kids. This is Randy Bernard calling from Namche Bazaar at 11300 feet on our way to the base camp of Mount Everest. Today, what we experienced was a lot of wonderful sights. We uh it’s our first real day of trekking. It was pretty much considered to be one of the top 3 hardest days that we’ll be experiencing. With the altitude change we finally hit an altitude where we're all starting to feel somewhat a little dizzy and noticing the change in altitude. We hit today, we went from 8700 feet we peaked out at 11300 at the Namche Bazaar. We pretty much today just ran across yaks which we expected, sherpas carrying more items than I’d ever like to uh think that I could carry. Tomorrow we’ll be getting up and we’ll be heading out just on a little trek just to do a little acclimatization for one day before we head out to the next steps. We actually today we also saw our first glimpse of Everest which was cool and very exciting for everybody. Sort of why we're here, so we actually did get that, we saw pictures. It was very exciting. Tomorrow we will have an actual clearer view where we’ll be at a plateau which will again, get some wonderful pictures. I'd like to say hi to all the friends and family that supported us on the way and especially to my lovely wife Lina and my 2 sons Antaeus and Milano. Thanks for all the support and again hi to all the kids at BC Children’s (unintelligible). Thank you very much ….. I’ll have a report real soon. Take care. Bye
