Everest Base Camp 2011 • 10/25/2011 4:25:35 AM Phakding (Julian Alphilbert)
Namaste, this is Julian Alphilbert one of the members of the 2011 Everest Base Camp Trekking Team calling you from Phakding. Today is Tuesday October the 25th and we have just arrived at Phakding and we are just checking into our hotel accomodations for the evening. It was a very pleasant journey into Lukla earlier today and we hiked for a good maybe four or five hours to our current location. Everyone is in good spirits and everyone is looking forward to continuing to Base Camp and everyone so far is in great health. Everyone is eating properly and drinking lots and lots of water. Tomorrow our plans will be taking us to Namche Bazar which is at 11,283 feet and that trek is expected to last maybe six to seven hours depending on how slowly we walk and that has been the order of the day to walk very very slowly. And so far we have had a very very good time. The weather has been fantastic and the people we have met both locally and internationally have been superb and I'm really looking forward to the rest of the journey. I would at this time like to say hello to all the kids and staff at BC Children's Hospital. And I would like to urge anyone listening to this message, as well as passing it on to your friends to please sign into Summits of Hope website and make a donation on behalf of BC Children's Hospital. This is Julian Alphilbert thanking you for listening and hopefully bringing you another message in the near future. Thank you and goodbye.
