Everest Base Camp 2011 • 10/29/2011 4:35:44 AM Dingboche 14,271 feet (Tobe Vlasbloom)
Hello to everybody following Summits of Hope climbers. This is climber Tobe Vlasbloom and it is October 29th and I'm calling from Dingboche at 14,271 feet. We spent most of the day climbing up from Tyangboche. Had a.beautiful trek up a long ravine. We had mountains towering high overhead. We saw Ama Dablam the mountain looking down on us the whole day, met lots of people on the trail. I'm struck by how beautiful and rustic everything is. There's no way to get anywhere around here except by foot or by yak, and as a matter of fact a yak just walked by me while I'm standing here making this phone call. Tomorrow we are going to do an acclimatization hike since we just did increase our elevation. We're going to go higher and then sleep back down at this level before we move on. I just want to say hello to all the children at the BC Children's Hospital, we have your flag with us and we are taking it to Everest Base Camp. Anybody who's still thinking of making a donation, please do so now. It would be greatly appreciated. And thanks to North Face for all their support and to Ice Breaker as well. Take care and we'll send you another update tomorrow.
