Everest Base Camp 2011 • 11/1/2011 9:35:59 PM Summit of Kala Patthar (Don Edwards)
Hello everyone, this is Don Edwards. The Summits of Hope Everest Base Camp Team has successfully made it to the top of Kala Patthar (5,545 m / 18,192 ft) just over 18,000 feet. Everyone is doing well, we are looking forward to going down and having a little breakfast, and we're going to be heading on to Pheriche today. The views up here are unreal and the mountains are spectacular. The Khumbu icefield / glacier is beautiful. It's a little chilly -- but everyone is doing well! I would like to say hello to all of the kids at the Lions Bay school, my lovely family, Kirsten my gorgeous wife, my two boys Hunter and Jack -- I hope they saved me a little Halloween candy -- I miss you guys, and of course, all the kids at the Children's Hospital. And Thanks to everyone for all of the donations they have been putting forward. It's been a successful climb! I'd also like to say that the team this year has been unreal. Everybody has worked really hard and done an excellent job... positive attitudes all the way around. We had a great trip, now, we are looking forward to making our way out! Alright, thanks a lot, and we will be talking to you soon. Have a good day! Bye!
