Mt. Everest Base Camp 2008 • 11/2/2008 5:43:06 PM Day 13 - Russ Barstow
Hello from Kathmandu. We are going to try this again. I don't know if my transmission was cut off last time. This is Summits of Hope 2008 Everest Base Camp climber Russ Barstow with an update.
Juts to let you know, we made it out of Lukla and made it back in about mid day yesterday. The flight out of Lukla was crazy and fun. It was like riding a rollercoaster down a big hill and hope that the plane takes off before the runway stops. As you pull out you can see where other planes have crashed coming in. A little bit eerie.
What we did was yesterday, we spent a little bit of time in the city and had a nice team dinner all together last night. You can see the smiles on everyone's faces. Everyone is feeling great, feeling healthy, and feeling happy. It's good to be breathing some oxygen again.
We're hopefully going to be out to see some temples and some sites around Kathmandu today. That should be a great day. There's some amazing things to see here. Especially the traffic, and the cows and the peaks.
We'll have a celebration dinner tonight, then some of us will be on our way in less than twenty-four hours back to home. Best wishes to everyone back there. If you haven't made a donation yet, please make a minute to do so.
On a personal note, I wanted to say hello to Charlie. Happy Halloween buddy and hope you had fun trick or treating there little Batman. Hi to Sam, Alex and Susie of course. Love you guys.
This has been and Infosat telecommunications update. Thanks to Infosat for making these updates possible.
