I am currently working as a physiotherapist at Vancouver General Hospital, and have only recently heard about the Summits of Hope program. As soon as I found out more about what they do, and how they help BC Children’s Hospital, I thought it would be an opportunity of a lifetime to join the 2009 Kilimanjaro climb! Kim Hesketh and I will also be spending extra time putting our physio skills to use, volunteering in an orphanage with children with cerebral palsy.

I have always loved traveling and adventure. I’ve spent time in much of Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. I’ve also enjoyed many travels across Canada and the US. Hiking and outdoors activities have featured prominently in most of my travels and I have been very fortunate to experience so many beautiful things and meet many wonderful people.

I grew up in Barrie, Ontario, and went to school in Hamilton and Toronto before moving out to Calgary, where I got to enjoy all of the outdoors that the Rockies have to offer. I just recently moved back to Canada after spending over a year working and playing in Hawaii, where I learned how to surf and kitesurf. Moving to Vancouver was a great choice for me, with all of the beautiful outdoors right at my fingertips!

The challenge of raising money for BC Children’s Hospital and climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro is both intimidating and exciting – and I’m really looking forward it! Any contribution to help this wonderful foundation is greatly appreciated, and big thank-you’s to my wonderful family and friends for all their support!
