SHELLEY METCALFE
Support me on my quest to raise funds for BC Children's Hospital.
I last climbed with SOH in Ecuador in 2007. As a newbie to mountaineering, this was my first time trekking at high altitude and using crampons and ice axes. It was filled with challenges, and I had to overcome my fears (mostly of steep mountain faces!).
But it was when I found myself waking up at midnight to begin the ascent up Cotopaxi (after going to sleep at 6 in the afternoon) that I knew I had the bug, and that I would be back with SOH for another adventure.
So here I am, signed up to climb Aconcagua in January 2009.
When I’m not training or fundraising, I’m usually working, but lucky to be utilizing my environmental science degree in a job where I can make a difference. I also enjoy playing league soccer and dabbling in anything that captures my interest (which turns out to be a lot :) ).
I hope you will follow us on our climbs through the website, and thanks to everyone for your donations and support.
