TREVOR JOHNSON
Support me on my quest to raise funds for BC Children's Hospital.
I am an 18 year Fire Fighter with the Richmond Fire Rescue Service. I'm blessed in my life with a beautiful wife and two wonderful children, a six year old daughter and four year old son. All my life I have had a passion for sports, adventure and the great outdoors. I'm happiest in the wilderness, particularly in the mountains. I have tried almost every extreme sport including Rock Climbing, Parachuting, Extreme Skiing, Back Country Skiing, River Kayaking and Rafting, Windsurfing, Sailing, Surfing, Scuba Diving, Parasailing, Ultra lighting, Bungee Jumping and Mountaineering to name a few. These types of activities make me feel so ALIVE. For at least a decade I have wanted to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. I want to challenge myself and experience first hand, the physiological effects of the low oxygen levels encountered at high altitudes. Consequently, I have made the decision to climb Kilimanjaro in March 2007 and at the same time raise some money for a local worthy charity.
I chose to raise money for B.C. Children's Hospital because of a close friends recent experience with this Hospital. He and his wife had a premature one (1) pound baby girl (Madison) who was such a tiny "preemie" that she was given little chance of survival. The staff at B.C. Children's Hospital did an amazing job of caring for Madison and looking after all of the parents needs including providing a room for the parents to stay at the hospital. The experience they had with this institution was so positive and professional that I can't help but to be an advocate of this institution.
The level of care that this hospital delivers to children and their families is second to none! It is for this reason that I have chosen to dedicate my climb and all money raised to "Baby Madison", who beat the odds with the help of the great staff at B.C. Children's Hospital. I'm pleased to tell you that Madison is now a normal healthy two Year old. Please give other children like Madison a chance by donating to this very worthy institution.
