David Gilman has been an outdoor enthusiast his whole life. Growing up in Ontario, David credits his Grandfathers and his Father for his love of the outdoors. Frequent camping trips and visits to the family cottage in Northern Ontario as a young boy impressed upon David the beauty and awesome power of nature.

Though new to climbing, David is no stranger to personal challenges. Through his own business experiences, David has seen his fair share. After five years of focusing on building a successful Wealth Management Practice in Vancouver, he is ready for his next adventure.

This expedition to Africa will challenge him immensely. But the experiences will last a lifetime. At 28, David will travel to the same area of Africa that his Grandfather, Richard Gilman brought a young family too in 1949 when he was 28 as well! David is looking forward to adding to the family stories of Africa which over time may have grown to epic proportions.

David has lived in Vancouver since 1999. He is excited to be able to make a substantial contribution to Summits of Hope and the BC Children's Hospital Foundation. His travels will be followed closely by his loving family and his amazing partner Joanne Snyder.
