Support me on my quest to raise funds for BC Children's Hospital.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Ryan's Bio
I was introduced to Summits of Hope by Leanne Leduc. After years of attending her fundraisers and contributing to BC Children’s Hospital through her, I was keen to join a trip myself.

Born and raised on a small farm in Kamloops, BC, I avoided the family horses and opted for outdoor adventures and motorcycles instead. I started rock climbing at 11 years old and have been sliding on the snow in some fashion as long as I can remember – skiing, snowboarding and most recently telemarking. My motorcycle has taken me all over Canada and the US and this past spring to Guatemala. Hopefully I’ll be heading to Alaska on it in the next couple years. I also enjoy filling my spare time with mountain and road biking, skydiving, kayaking, baking muffins and planning the next adventure.

Most of my past peaks have been the rock variety including the Grand Sentinel (Lake Louise) and Yak Peak (didn't quite make that one before dark...). Finally in December 2007 I joined the high altitude club and climbed N.America's 3rd highest peak – Pico de Orizaba.

I’ve always enjoyed sharing my outdoor passions with others, and have done so in many ways including coaching youth snowboard and wakeboard camps. Encouraging and motivating others to follow their dreams brings me great satisfaction. I think this is why I am so drawn to Summits of Hope – not because I have been directly impacted by the loss of a child, but because I hope that my efforts and participation will encourage others to follow my lead and make the most of their life. I hope that the funds we raise for the BC Children’s Hospital through Summits of Hope will mean that many more children will be able to choose their paths and climb their own mountains – whatever or wherever those personal mountains may be.

A special thanks to my family, friends and employers for all the support and love along the way.
