About Me

I am climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with Summits of Hope and my two good friends I met in nursing school, Gloria Yuen and Louise Underwood. We went on our first trip together to Morocco and the rest, as they say, is history. I have been extremely fortunate to have hiked Annapurna Base Camp, West Coast Trail, Juan de Fuca Trail, and the Chilkoot Trail together. They were there to encourage me to go on when I was afraid of heights on the ladders of the West Coast Trail, to celebrate with me when we saw the quiet beauty of Mount Everest, and even to cheer me up with their Abba-song singing on the Grouse Grind (and not to mention singing on all the other hiking we did). One of my dreams is to see some of the seven summits of the world, I have been fortunate enough to see Mount Everest (after reading Into Thin Air as an adolescent, I was hooked) and Aconcagua. I have always wanted to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. My good friend Louise suggested that we climb with Summits of Hope this year. I am excited to give back to our community and see the highest mountain in Africa at the same time. Everybody has a mountain to climb: Whether it is literally climbing a mountain, whether it is working towards achieving your personal goals, or whether it is coping with a life altering illness. 100% of your donation will go to BC Children's Hospital. Thank you for your generosity and support!
