About Me

Having the chance to raise money for Children's Hospital has always been a goal for me. My daughter was born weighing at just a little more than a pound and it was the incredible care from the Doctors Nurses and staff at Children's that saved her life. I have always wanted to do something to pay back to the Hospital for the incredible care my daughter received while we were there. My wife Anita and myself were so impressed with the care she got but also how they took care of us as well. My mom got me into hiking at an early age as we hiked into the Mt Robson area for a week long trek. This definitely got my love for the outdoors going. My mom also made it to base camp at Everest when she was in her sixties. I spent 8 years working in the most remote areas of BC doing Glacier studies and building and servicing remote satelite telemetry climate stations. During this time I was fortunate to work in areas such as Mt Waddington, The Bugaboos, The Grand Canyon of the Stikine, The Spatizi Wilderness Plateau, The Homathko Valley, The Rocky Mountains and the Rocky Mountain trench and many other spectacular untouched wilderness areas. The highest elevation that I have worked and hiked at is 10,000 feet. I am looking forward to the challenge of being at elevation and seeing how my body can deal with being pushed on a trek like this. This is the perfect combination for me, in being able to do a little something to give back to Children's Hospital and take on a challenge of treking into such a spectacular area of the world.
