About Me

This is Ron’s first Summits of Hope Climb! He looks forward to the adventure of traveling and climbing among friends and family. He is climbing to celebrate his 40th birthday, challenge himself, escape from his normal routine and to raise money for the BC Children’s Hospital. He has often been known to shout, “Go big, or go home.” In this spirit he plans to fund raise for the kids at the BC Children’s Hospital. He wants to make a difference! Ron has two young sons-–Max and Felix, who he strives to raise as healthy, strong and motivated individuals. He wants his boys to understand the importance of helping others. Ron’s hobbies are fishing, cooking and playing hockey. Ron will carry a special prayer flag to Everest base camp in memory of Ben Barstow, his wife J.J., and brother-in-law Russ’s cousin. J.J. (aka Mrs. Kempin) invites the students and staff at Lord Byng Elementary and in other Richmond schools to get involved with supporting her husband Ron and brother Russ’s trek to fundraise for Children’s Hospital.
